The Comfort Station is located in Indian Mountain Park on Chief Trail and houses restrooms and showers. Both men’s and women’s facilities are provided as well as a handicapped facility. There is also a telephone for local calls, but requires a calling card to make long distance calls. Please see the Comfort Station Rules below. Respect the rules so that all Indian Mountain property owners can enjoy the use of this facility.
Electronic Card Key System:
The Comfort Station access is via electronic key. If you wish to order your key by mail, please fill out the Comfort Station Key Card Application (see above) and send it with a check for $7.00 ($5.00 key + $2.00 postage) along with proof of ownership of Indian Mountain property to:

Alternately you can come by the IMMD Business Office at 31 Keneu Ct. off Arrowhead and get a key with the property documentation. You can also call 719-836-9043 during business hours (Weds through Saturday 9am to 1pm) for further inquiries or leave a message at any time.
One electronic key is provided per property. The electronic key system helps ensure only Indian Mountain property owners have access to the building. If a person with an electronic key who is not an Indian Mountain property owner or property owner’s non-paying guest is found using the facility, access by that particular key can be terminated.
If you lose your electronic card key please notify the Office. Access by your old key will be terminated. You can purchase a new key for $7.00 (mail) or $5.00 (office) using one of the methods listed above.
Comfort Station Rules – Please abide by the following:
- You must be an INDIAN MOUNTAIN PROPERTY OWNER (or property owner’s NON-PAYING guest) to use this facility.
– DO NOT provide your key card to others, including the construction crew that is building your cabin. (Park County Regulations require that a temporary portable restroom be provided at each construction site).
- Be considerate of homeowners nearby by keeping the noise level to a minimum especially during the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- DO NOT prop the door open as it invites in wildlife and may cause door breakage.
- The facility showers and restrooms are for PEOPLE only.
– DO NOT bathe your pets in the facility.
– DO NOT clean up construction tools or other equipment in the facility.
– DO NOT do laundry, wash dishes or other personal items.
– DO NOT leave your camping or household trash in the facility.
- NO electrical appliances other than hair dryers, curling irons, and electric shavers are allowed. * Extension cords are not permitted.*
- A telephone is provided inside the comfort station building. You can make a local call, but a long-distance call will require use of a calling card.
- Potable water is available for campers and RVs for Indian Mountain property owners only from an outside faucet on the south side of the facility. Water use of the facility must be within limits that will not allow the facility to exceed 1/3-acre foot per year. If water use approaches the maximum allowed, use of the outside hydrant will be turned off.
- You will reimburse Indian Mountain Metropolitan District for any damage you inflict on the Facilities.
- Please clean up after yourself so all may enjoy the facility.
WATER LIMIT AT THE INDIAN MOUNTAIN COMFORT STATION OUTDOOR SPIGOT!
Because of severe drought conditions and wells in the area drying up, we must limit water usage at the outdoor spigot at the Comfort Station. We need to preserve the water for the showers and bathrooms. There is no aquifer under Indian Mountain. We get our water from cracks in the granite that are fed by rain and snow. This causes a slower refill of the water in the well, leading to the increased risk of a well going dry.
Additionally, overuse of a well pump accelerates mechanical and electrical wear, shortening its lifespan and increasing the risk of failure. Pumps are designed for continuous operation, but excessive strain from high demand can cause premature breakdown.
The Comfort Station well cannot sustain full house and/or outdoor use. It is meant for those occasionally camping and short visits. In addition, the State of Colorado Division of Water Resources limits how much water we can take out of the well.
Usage at the spigot is currently more than the last 3 years combined! If the water usage at this spigot does not go down dramatically, we will have to turn the spigot off. This would be a hardship for neighbors in need of water.
DAILY LIMIT – Absolutely no more than 30 gallons per Indian Mountain property owner per day – less is better! No Large Cisterns, Drums or Bladders.
If you need more than 30 gallons a day, you need to make other arrangements (water delivery or drill a well).
The use will be monitored daily and if Large Cisterns, Drums or Bladders are used, the offenders will be contacted.
Indian Mountain amenities are only for the enjoyment of Indian Mountain property owners and their non-paying guests. If people from outside neighborhoods are caught using the spigot they will be prosecuted for trespassing and theft.
